Igor I. Ibatullin was born on March 22, 1946 in Kayuky village Kuibyshev district of the Tatar ASSR.

In 1970 he graduated from M.Ye. Bauman Kazan State Veterinary Institute majoring in zootechnics. After graduation he worked as an assistant at the Department of Farm Animal Nutrition of the same university.
From 1971 to 1972 he did the military service in the Armed Forces of the USSR.

During 1972-1975 he studied at the graduate school of the Ukrainian Agricultural Academy.

From 1975 to 1986 Igor Ibatullin worked as a senior researcher, head of the laboratory of chemical animal nutrition of the Agronomic Research Station of the UAA.

Since 1986 he is the Associate Professor of the Department of Animal Nutrition and Feed Technology of the UAA.
In 1991-1996 Igor Ibatullin performs the duties of the Deputy Rector for Research.

In 1994 he headed P.D. Pshenychnyi Department of Animal Nutrition and Feed Technology.

From 1996 to 2000 he was Vice-Rector for Research of the National Agrarian University (now — National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine).

From 2000 to 2007 Igor Ibatullin worked as the Vice-Rector for organization and research activities and from 2007 to 2010 — as the First Vice-Rector of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine.

In 2010, he was the head of the department of animal nutrition and feed technology. On November 26, 2010 he was appointed the academician-secretary of the Department of the Scientific Support of Innovation Transfer of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine.

From 10.01.2011 till 31.03.2011 he worked as the Vice-President of NAAS. Currently Igor Ibatullin is the Head of the Department of Animal Nutrition and Feed Technology of NULES of Ukraine.

In 1975 Igor Ibatullin defended his thesis for the degree of Candidate of Agricultural Sciences on the topic “Digestibility, balance of substances, chemical composition of meat and liver of ducklings under prolonged feeding of hydrocarbon yeast”.

In 1993, he defended the thesis for the degree of Doctor of Agricultural Sciences on the topic “Experimental study of rational use of alternative feed resources for farm animal nutrition”. He was granted the academic title of Professor in 1995.

Major works of Igor I. Ibatullin are aimed at justifying theoretical and practical principles of farm animal nutrition; study of the chemical composition and nutritive value of forages, examining wastes after industrial materials processing, as well as effective methods for their use; development of the methods for ensuring full nutrition of farm animals of forest-steppe and polessye zones of Ukraine using feed additives and biologically active substances; theoretical foundation of influence of feeding optimization on animal productive qualities; study of feed efficiency.
He investigated the use of unconventional feed products — wastes of oil, leather and food industries — for increase of livestock forage resources.

Igor Ibatullin published 307 scientific and methodological papers, including 8 monographs, 4 books and 9 textbooks for students of higher educational establishments of I-III accreditation levels.

He is the author of 28 patents and certificates for inventions. Igor Ibatullin was the scientific advisor of 3 doctors of sciences and 18 candidates of sciences.

He is a corresponding member of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences since 1999 and a full member (academician) of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences since 2002.

He was awarded with the Order “For Merits” of the second and third degrees, Order of Mikhail Lomonosov of the Russian Federation, the Sign of Honour of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine.

Igor Ibatullin has the title of Honoured Scientist of Ukraine.
