ALLOGENEIC HEART MUSCLE TRANSPLANTATION IN AN EXPERIMENT AT THE DEPARTMENT OF SURGERY AND PATHOPHYSIOLOGY NAMED AKAD I.O. RESPECT IS A REALITY

   On the basis of the department of surgery and pathophysiology named after Acad. I.O. During the month of June, Povazhenka together with the State Institution "Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Children's Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine" with the support of the International Charitable Foundation "Children's Heart" conducted experimental research "Preclinical testing (training) of heart allotransplantation on animals".

   The main task of the scientific research was to work out the method of obtaining heart muscle from a donor animal, preserving it in a special environment for transportation and transplanting a heart to a recipient animal. In the course of the conducted scientific research, the methods of blood sampling and obtaining erythrocyte mass, blood transfusion from the donor to the recipient, the use of an artificial blood circulation device, monitoring of the main vital signs of the recipient animal during allogeneic heart transplantation from the donor animal were also worked out.

   Experimental studies were conducted at a high scientific and methodological level!

  Experiments on animals were carried out in compliance with the requirements of the "General Ethical Principles of Conducting Experiments on Animals", approved by the First National Congress on Bioethics (September 20, 2004, Kyiv, Ukraine) and the provisions of the "European Convention on the Protection of Vertebrate Animals Used in Experimental and Other scientific purposes" (Strasbourg, 1986), the Law of Ukraine "On the Protection of Animals from Cruelty" (Vidomosti VR, 2010).
