   Martial law in our native Nenets UKRAINE is not an obstacle to conducting scientific research.

   Despite the difficult situation in our country, scientists of the department of surgery and pathophysiology named after Acad. I. O. Povazhenko on the basis of the clinical center "VETMEDSERVIS" continued the experimental part of the dissertation work of the graduate student Iryna Horkava on the topic: "The effect of platelet-rich plasma on joint tissue in experimental osteoarthritis."

   The animals were previously diagnosed with a pathological process and divided into three groups. The first group received a placebo as a treatment to have a picture of the development of the disease without treatment. The second group received classical treatment protocols. A relatively new technique, which is actively used abroad, was chosen for the third group, namely treatment with plasma enriched with platelets, or PRP therapy.

   To carry out PRP therapy, a procedure was carried out to collect 10 ml of venous blood in special tubes, which have a special component that prevents coagulation. During centrifugation using a special centrifuge, the blood was separated into erythrocyte mass and plasma with a high content of platelets. At the exit, we received 0.7 ml of platelet concentrate. What is important in PRP therapy is not the amount of plasma received, but rather the concentration of platelets. Regenerative processes are started only when the concentration of platelets increases several times.

   The resulting platelet-rich plasma is injected into the damaged area by intra-articular injection.

   After the medical procedure, the animals feel great. The test animals showed interest in the feed, which indicates that they are in good health!
