A step towards an informed choice: career guidance meetings were held with graduates of lyceums in Shepetivka

УMaking an informed choice about one’s future profession is the key to a successful career for young people. It is precisely with the aim of helping graduates to determine their career path, familiarise themselves with the specifics of the admissions process, educational programmes and additional opportunities for all-round development outside of their studies that regular meetings are held with representatives of higher education institutions.

On 14 September 2026, Viktoriia HOLIK, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Management named after Prof. Y. S. Zavadskyi, held career guidance meetings with graduates of secondary schools in the town of Shepetivka, Khmelnytskyi Oblast.

As part of these visits, the lecturer visited Lyceum No. 1 named after Hero of Ukraine M. Dzyavulskyi of the Shepetivka City Council, Lyceum No. 2 of the Shepetivka City Council, and Gymnasium No. 3 of the Shepetivka City Council in the Khmelnytskyi region, named after Hero of Ukraine Ihor Lyashenko. In addition to direct interaction with the young people, the visits also provided an opportunity to discuss prospects for further cooperation between the educational institutions.

The main purpose of the meetings was to present to the graduates the benefits of pursuing higher education at the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, particularly at the Faculty of Agrarian Management. Viktoriia HOLIK emphasised that modern education should not merely provide fundamental theory, but also actively develop in students the practical skills, independence, high level of communication skills and flexibility necessary for rapid adaptation to the labour market.
The introductory session included a presentation on the history, structure and location of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, as well as its leading positions in the rankings of higher education institutions in Ukraine and worldwide. Viktoriia Viktorivna spoke about the university’s botanical garden, accommodation options on campus and the wide range of extracurricular activities on offer: from active participation in student self-governance to involvement in creative groups or sports clubs.
The lecturer paid particular attention to the balance between theoretical and practical training, the high-quality facilities and equipment, overseas internship programmes, academic mobility and the opportunity to obtain a higher education qualification through dual-degree programmes. The secondary school pupils learnt about the Department of Military Training and career prospects, underpinned by the university’s ongoing support through career days, job fairs, career hubs and open days.

During the meeting, particular attention was paid to the Faculty of Agrarian Management. The pupils were given a detailed overview of the educational programmes and specialisations, with emphasis on the fact that the skills acquired enable graduates to find employment not only in the agricultural sector but also in any other business sector.

The participants learnt about the use of international approaches in the modern educational process, the opportunity to study in English-speaking groups, academic mobility, practical training at leading agricultural enterprises, research activities, participation in grant programmes, conferences and academic societies, and the organisation of interactive lectures and seminars; the use of case studies and business simulations during the learning process, as well as masterclasses and meetings with business representatives. Particular attention was paid to combining theory with real-world practical experience, which forms the basis for professional development and building a successful career.
At the end of the events, Viktoriia HOLIK provided comprehensive answers to questions regarding admission and the specifics of the educational process, and shared contact details and useful links to the official website of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine and its individual pages, in particular those of the Faculty of Agrarian Management and the Admissions Committee. To conclude the meetings, Viktoriia Viktorivna wished the graduates that their decision regarding their choice of specialism would be the first decisive step towards realising their dreams and achieving professional success in the future.
