International Horse Day and a new page in agricultural education: opening of the "Horse breeding" program
On December 13, the world celebrates International Horse Day - a holiday that reminds us of the enormous contribution of these noble animals to the development of mankind. Since ancient times, horses have been indispensable helpers in agriculture, transport, military affairs, and later - in sports, recreation and even therapy. Their role in the formation of civilizations is so significant that horse breeding has become not only a branch of animal husbandry, but also part of the cultural heritage of many peoples.
Horses have accompanied man for millennia:
- in the Cossack tradition, they symbolized freedom and strength;
- in European countries - they were a sign of prestige and nobility;
- in the modern world - they have become an integral part of equestrian sports, tourism and rehabilitation programs.
International Horse Day is not only a celebration of the past, but also a reminder of responsibility for the future. Its goal is to promote humane treatment of animals, support breeding work and preserve unique breeds that are the genetic wealth of the world.
In many countries, this day is accompanied by festivals, horse shows, riding master classes, charity events and information campaigns. This is a great opportunity to unite people who love horses and show the prospects for the development of the industry.
This year, the date takes on special significance for Ukrainian agricultural education: the opening of the educational and professional program "Horse Breeding" at the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Aquatic Bioresources of NUBiP of Ukraine was announced.
The program was created taking into account the modern needs of the industry and European standards, which makes it unique for the Ukrainian educational space.
The main focuses of the program:
- Thorough knowledge of genetics, selection, feeding and keeping horses.
- Management and management technologies of equestrian enterprises.
- European animal welfare standards and ethical norms.
- Practice-oriented training based on a modern equine laboratory.
Graduates of the program will receive the competencies necessary to work in:
- breeding horse breeding;
- sports clubs and federations;
- recreational and tourist centers;
- hippotherapy and rehabilitation programs.
This opens up wide opportunities for young people who seek to combine love for animals with modern technologies and management.
The combination of the celebration of International Horse Day and the opening of the "Equestrian" program is a symbol of a new stage in the development of Ukrainian horse breeding. Traditions are harmoniously intertwined with innovations, and education becomes the key to the successful future of the industry.
The future of horse breeding begins today - and it is in the hands of those who are ready to study, work and develop this noble field.
